THE FINAL ELEMENT
TRIGENICS FUNCTIONAL MUSCLE NEUROLOGY
MUSCLES AND NERVE SENSORS
Trigenics recognises that muscles comprise some of the largest organs next to the skin and therefore embody some of the greatest amounts of nerve sensors in the body. It makes sense then that addressing any abnormal communication between these sensors and your brain would be a priority in managing neuro-musculoskeletal care. Trigenics is unique in that it is able to help identify these abnormal muscle signalling patterns using specific and simple muscle strength and length testing procedures and myoneural mapping. As well it provides innovative corrective nerve sensor treatment and training procedures using advanced principles in muscle neurology and neuroplasticity.
Your brain sends signals throughout your nervous system through all parts of your body including your muscles. When tendons, muscle or ligaments suffer dammage, stress or injury their nerve sensors (aka proprioceptors) stop sending proper messages to the brain (known as neurological inhibition, "NI") causing the sensation of pain. "NI” may not always be immediately noticeable, but the brain eventually then sends improper controlling signals and the muscles and tendons experiences a state of neurological dysfunction, leading to weak links and abnormal muscle pull patterns in the movement chain causing imbalances and dysfunctional joint motion. This results in chronic pain and injury or decreased training and athletic performance.
ADVANCES IN MANUAL MEDICINE
Many advances in the manual medicine field has seen doctors and therapists utilising various techniques in osseous manipulation, physiotherapy, rehabilitation, manual and soft tissue treatments for neuro-musculoskeletal conditions. Over the last few decades there have been the introduction of excellent new techniques in soft tissue care which have discovered the importance of removing myofascial adhesions to improve myofascial glide, increase movement and restore biomechanics and practitioners have since been able to offer their patients' results otherwise unachievable. Another awakening occurred in the 2000’s, with the realisation that treatment of aberrant sensorimotor neurology, both peripherally (extremities) and centrally (spine), could still further enhance treatment outcomes significantly. There is a substantial body of research developing in the neurological sciences in the area of spine and joint manipulation that are making aware the neurological underpinnings of this modality.
However, doctors and therapists who have become well versed in all these treatments find that there are cases where the combination of these approaches are still not enough. In searching for the missing element of care, they found it in the most basic area of life, the origin and controlling element of all movement and function, Neurology. Often these improper controlling signals of muscles cannot be fully corrected with traditional physiotherapeutic, or manual and manipulative therapies; exercise will not fully strengthen the muscles which are neurologically weak and stretching will not sustainably relax muscles which are neurologically tight. If tension imbalance due to neurological inhibition of spinal muscle sensors is not first corrected, the bones in your spine can sometimes quickly become restricted again following joint manipulation. Because “NI” is not corrected by mechanical deep tissue massage or muscle stripping therapies, the nervous system must first be reset.
THE MISSING ELEMENT - TRIGENICS
This is where Trigenics® Functional Muscle Neurology has a very significant role to play and it is for this reason, it is referred to as "the missing element" of total-body care. When Trigenics is applied, muscular “knots’ and adhesions are then more effectively treated using massage or soft tissue release techniques. With Trigenics®, joints begin to move properly again without forceful manipulation or with only light mobilization. Your bodies energy systems are also balanced and enhanced.
Your Registered Trigenics® Physician/Practitioner or “Trigenist” is fully trained to be able to detect neurological inhibition. Once assessed, the Trigenist will have you lightly exercise using specific resisted movements during your treatment to generate your own neurological reflexes. Then, through application of a sophisticated combination of 3 neuromanual medicine techniques, he or she will manipulate and redirect your nerve signals to effectively “reset” the way your brain communicates with your muscles and body.
You have mastered treatment of aberrant osteology with your manipulative procedures and you have mastered treatment of aberrant histology with your soft tissue and rehabilitative techniques.
